SRGVVK Trust Charitable School was established in 1991, and was accredited to Edu-GIRLS in 2016. It is housed on a small homestead where the founding couple live and house the school up to grade 7, after which girls are placed in private schools through Edu-GIRLS scholarships. The small campus has been renovated and a new floor added. SRGVVK caters to children of economically disadvantaged families. Parents are agricultural workers, maids, migrant construction workers, stone cutters or drivers, living in shacks but keen to send little girls to school.

Program Higlights

No Fees: The school does not charge fees for girls, offering tuition, uniforms, books, and mid-day meals.

Girls in grades 3 to 7 take ASSET tests, which are taken by 350,000 children in 1000 English medium private schools, enabling progress to be tracked continuously as School Board exams only occur at grade 10.

Teachers are independently tested every year for their subject matter and pedagogical skills, supported through special training programs and provided salary incentives as they show improvement.

Post Grade 7 Edu-GIRLS scholarships are offered to study in two approved private English medium schools to finish high school.

Low Cost: Costs per girl are less than 70 c/day.

Anand visits a family living in a shack without water or electricity but is keen to send these two girls to the early childhood program as soon as it starts.

Future Plans:

Achieve national parity in ASSET scores for grades 3 to 7 by 2023/24.

Provide e-rickshaw services and bicycles to save time and to increase enrollment to 150.

Enhance  English language proficiency in all grades using services of a teacher dedicated to English, twice a year testing and performance prizes.

Provide Career Development support in the form of counseling and scholarships as girls finish Grade 10 when some are ready for vocational training while others go on to college.

Launch Early Childhood Program for girls 3 years of age.

The partnership with Edu-GIRLS has greatly benefited the girls of SRGVVK Trust School through better infrastructure, science and computer labs, tablets for online learning, and scholarships for higher education.
